2 Nephi 6:6 Why does Jacob start here in his temple discourse ? Remember chapter and verses are modern (done by Elder James E. Talmage). See 1 Nephi 21:22-26 (compare Isaiah 49). Jacob starts from 1 Nephi 21:22-26 and continues writing on this same passage from Isaiah in his discourse.
2 Nephi 6:7 “standard” in Hebrew means single pole. Nursing fathers could be better translated as foster fathers in Hebrew, meaning scattered Israel will be cared for by the gentile nations in the last days. They will continue to grow, but not as a separate nation. Our church has to deal with governments in which its members reside. We are supported by the governments in which we live. Church is now only a theological entity. Joseph Smith was given the keys of the political entity, but the Church does not currently exercise those keys. Scattered Israel lost its political entity through disobedience. We now have the ecclesiastical entity restored. Israel must be gathered before a political entity can be established.
Kingdom of God = Church
Kingdom of Heaven = Government
Noah Webster in 1828 defined “ashamed” to mean not ashamed by disappointment.
Dust of feet: it was the duty of servants to remove the dust of their master’s feet. All nations will become totally subservient to Christ’s government.
In the temple, to anoint someone is to set apart and make them a Messiah or “anointed one.” Adam gave the keys of his dispensation to Abel. Cain killed Abel in an attempt to destroy the kingdom of heaven (political). He then set up his own theocracy. The purpose of the Tower of Babel was to set up a kingdom of government on the earth.

2 Nephi 6:11 “Lands.” For the Jews who are not scattered, (i.e., they maintain their identity as Jews), their identity becomes their curse. Jerusalem was dedicated by Orson Hyde at a time when the Saints were gathering at Nauvoo (then Church headquarters) because the only way to gather is to make temple covenants. It is interesting that today the only place on earth we don’t gather as a people is in Israel—Jerusalem. Saints today are encouraged to stay in their own lands. Israel must be gathered before they can be restored to their original land of inheritance in the Holy Land. Isaiah, Nephi, and Jacob all testify of the gathering of Israel, the Second Coming, the fall of the great and abominable church. We will go to Jerusalem some day.
