Over the years I have filled notebooks and journals with handwritten notes in many areas of scripture study. An illness has changed the pattern of my days, and I find myself with hours to reflect and contemplate. Often as I lay awake at night a memory or thought will surface; hence the title of this blog. I have tried to capture and organize thoughts that have helped along my path. The entries are random. Using the labeling system or search function should help.

2 Nephi 17

2 Nephi 17:16–24. Prophecy Against Israel

The prophecy in 2 Nephi 17:16–24 seems to be a prophecy against the kingdom of Israel (Ephraim) declaring that the confederacy between Ephraim and Syria would be broken: “The land that thou abhorrest [the northern kingdom of Israel] shall be forsaken of both her kings [Ephraim’s and Syria’s]” (v. 16); “with arrows and with bows shall men come thither” (v. 24). This prophecy was fulfilled when Assyria overran the land in 721 B.C. (CES Manual, p 40)
